“As Governor of Queensland and Patron-in-Chief of the Wesley Research Institute, I am pleased and proud to acknowledge its three decades of outstanding commitment to improving health outcomes through world-class science.
The work undertaken by this extraordinary not-for-profit organisation has delivered numerous clinical trials, launched many programs to address critical health challenges, and achieved outcomes that benefit not only Queenslanders but communities worldwide.
This year alone, the Queensland Spatial Biology Centre has advanced cancer cell mapping, providing better insights into treatment effectiveness and paving the way for personalised therapies; research into coeliac disease has led to new diagnostic tools effective in early intervention; and the Clinical Trials Centre has recorded its busiest year to date.
Much of the Institute’s success rests on strong partnerships with UnitingCare Queensland, universities, government and industry, alongside the dedication of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who translate research into better diagnostics and treatments. Exciting new discoveries continue to generate tangible benefits for patients.
Such progress is possible only through the support of philanthropic partners, donors, volunteers, and the leadership of the Board and management team. I warmly commend the Institute’s achievements this year and look forward to its continued commitment to research excellence.”
