About this student project
Wesley Research Institute and UnitingCare Queensland have partnered on a long-term program of virtual hospital research. Following successful context assessment and co-design studies conducted in 2023-2024, the program of research is now expanding. In this student project, we aim to develop a broader understanding of the demand and preferences of patients, carers and clinicians for virtual healthcare.
Well-designed virtual healthcare and hospitals-in-the-home have been demonstrated to be clinically effective, but as outlined in a recent Cochrane review, there is little evidence for how to design, implement, and scale virtual healthcare. This broader research program seeks to address this critical research gap, as well as to develop, pilot and evaluate new potential models of virtual healthcare delivery. The PhD project will contribute to the virtual hospital research program by leading research around understanding stakeholders’ perspectives.
The successful candidate will work with the Health Services Research team at The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane and will be enrolled at Charles Darwin University. By joining our team, the student will be provided a unique opportunity to gain skills in a broad range of research methods from qualitative interviews to health economic evaluation.
