Associate Professor John Allan

Associate Professor John Allan has been an obstetrician and gynaecologist VMP at The Wesley Hospital since 1984.

Associate Professor John Allan is a Chief Academic Medical Officer at UnitingCare. As a Medical Practitioner in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1984, he was also the Head of the Clinical School until he stepped back in 2022. Dr Allan was the initiator of the IVF program at The Wesley Hospital in 1988, and has been a member of the Society of Pelvic Surgeons since 2005. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland.

Emeritus Professor John Pearn AO

Emeritus Professor John Pearn AO

Professor John Pearn is a senior pediatrician, academic, doctor-soldier, researcher and writer. John was awarded his higher Doctorate of Medicine and is the author of over 500 papers. Professor Pearn is Senior Paediatrician at the Queensland Children’s Hospital where he has served as a full-time staff clinician since 1968. His major clinical, research and teaching interests in paediatrics and internal medicine have included medical genetics, clinical toxicology, bioethics and accident prevention.

Major General John Pearn has served as one of Australia’s most senior doctor-soldiers. In 1998 Major General Pearn was appointed Surgeon General to the Australian Defence Force and served in this role until his retirement in 2000.

Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM is the 27th Governor of Queensland and representative of His Majesty King Charles III, Queensland’s Head of State.

During her medical career, Dr Young had specialist qualifications as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and as a Fellow by Distinction of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. She was also appointed Fellow of numerous other eminent education and research institutions, has received honorary doctorates from two Queensland Universities, and has received an Australia Day Achievement Medallion, as well as a Public Service Medal.

Mr Martin Albrecht AC

Mr Martin Albrecht AC

Mr Albrecht is a prominent Australian businessman, best known for his service as Chairman, previously CEO of Thiess Pty Ltd, and former Wesley Medical Research Chairman.

Mr Albrecht was a director of companies including Queensland Gas Ltd, Portman Ltd, Siemens Australia Advisory Board and former member of the Advisory Board of the James Foots Institute for Mineral Research and the School of Engineering at The University of Queensland. He was instrumental in the establishment of the International RiverFoundation, which addresses issues related to sustainable water use and protection and restoration of rivers and waterways. He received the Companion of Australia for services to industry in 2002 and a Centenary Medal in 2003.
