We are currently seeking a Fundraising Specialist

Purpose of the Position:

  • As an integral member of the Fundraising and Marketing team, the Fundraising Specialist is responsible for growing fundraising income through appeals and regular giving programs, events and community engagement.
  • Reporting to the Fundraising and Marketing Manager, this pivotal role will secure, retain and grow fundraising income to support our current and future research programs.
  • The Fundraising Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and evaluation of the organisation’s three-year fundraising strategy and annual fundraising plan to achieve income targets; identify new income streams and develop strategies to access these funds and develop and monitor relationships and donor journeys with annual, mid-value and key stakeholders, to ensure strong engagement with Wesley Medical Research.

The successful candidate will ideally present with the following:


Knowledge and Skills

  • Two or more years of fundraising experience ideally within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Relevant degree or approved tertiary qualifications deemed equivalent in a related field.
  • Proven success delivering fundraising revenue growth and meeting fundraising targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, liaise with multiple stakeholders and build trust in relationships across all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving capability with a commitment to quality outcomes and customer service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, to prioritise work requirements, work autonomously when appropriate, consult appropriately and respond to direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of CRM donor database management systems with familiarity with Raiser’s Edge NXT well regarded.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in a wide range of computer applications including Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc), social media and familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Autopilot, Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor.
  • Accountable, with good financial acumen, analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to represent Wesley Medical Research at external events; including evening and weekend commitments as required.
  • Well-developed project management and time management skills requiring flexibility and the ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrate commitment to, and understanding of, workplace health and safety principles.
