The University of Queensland (UQ) and Wesley Medical Research (WMR) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate in areas of applied medical research, especially research into Infectious Diseases and Clinical Neuroscience.

On August 24, the Australian Government requested applications for funding of antibiotic resistance research via the Medical Research Future Fund.

In furtherance of the MOU, Professor David Paterson will be going on leave from WMR from 4 October to work on these applications, to be the Director of the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR), and to establish the Asia Pacific Collaboration on Antibiotic Resistance Research based at UQCCR.

While on leave, David will be available to WMR. During his leave, Dr John Allan will act as the CEO of WMR.
