Treatments and diagnoses need to constantly evolve to keep pace with emerging health issues ... therefore research and innovation must never stop.
Our collaborative approach to research brings together doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, scientists, patients and the community to work toward our common goal – to alleviate pain and suffering in the community right now, while making a lasting difference to health care practices for future generations.
Our research is:
- Collaborative - to maximise research resources
- About improving patient care and quality of life
- Clinical and applied – our researchers work directly with patients to discover and test new techniques for better diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and apply these findings to improve patient care
- Conducted by clinicians – doctors and allied health professionals based at one of the five Uniting CareHealth hospitals in Queensland, alone or in collaboration with partner institutions (for example Queensland University of Technology, the University of Queensland or Queensland Institute of Medical Research).
Our major research areas are cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, diagnostic imaging, bone and wound healing, gynaecology, hyperbaric medicine, brain and nervous system, nursing practices, nutrition, quality of life, palliative care and respiratory medicine.
See Research Funding for information on applying to conduct research with the Institute.
Without the generosity of our supporters our research would not possible. You can help make research happen – donate now.
